Warners Bay-based A Growing Understanding was named 2023’s Business of the Year at the Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards with judges commending its innovation, contribution to the city, community support, and work culture.
It was a stellar night for the company, which also won the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award, and its founder, Lauren Haskins, took home the Outstanding Business Leader Award.
The recognition has served as a powerful validation of their commitment to excellence and innovation in speech pathology. “It has opened doors to new partnerships and collaborations, enabling us to expand our network and reach even more families in need of our services,” said Lauren. “It has also provided a platform for us to showcase our dedication to cultural respect and partnership through the introduction of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), fostering meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Lauren also commented “The past year has taught us the importance of embracing opportunities for personal growth and not just focusing on sizeable growth. We have learnt that growing in knowledge, skills, and relationships can be just as impactful.”
“Through dedicated mentoring, structured supervision, and offering meaningful career pathways, we aim to contribute positively to the industry and the wider community.” By sharing their successes and lessons learnt, they hope to inspire other businesses to pursue excellence and make a meaningful impact.
