Low Emissions Industry Program

The New South Wales Government has launched a major funding initiative aimed at reducing emissions across manufacturing and mining sectors in NSW.

The Low Emissions Industry Program, part of the broader Industrial Decarbonisation Initiative, will provide $40 million to support industrial facilities in transitioning to cleaner, low‑carbon operations.

The program targets mining and manufacturing facilities that reported emissions under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme for 2024–25. 50% Co-funding is available up to a maximum of $10 million to support your project.

Funding will support a wide range of projects, including fuel switching, kiln and boiler upgrades, waste‑heat recovery systems, heat‑pump installations, and facility retrofits such as insulation and process changes. All funded projects must be operational and delivering emissions reductions by June 2030.

The NSW Government emphasises that decarbonising industry is essential to meeting its legislated targets of a 70% emissions reduction by 2035 and net‑zero by 2050, noting that manufacturing and mining account for roughly 30% of the state’s total emissions.

Applications are open until 9 June 2026.
