A Belmont business will have its name emblazoned across Lake Macquarie and to a national television audience after winning naming rights for the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships race to be held on the Lake on 14-15 October 2017.

Gibbo’s Auto Electrics won naming rights in the 200 Club promotion run by event co-sponsor Dantia, Lake Macquarie’s economic development corporation.

Dantia offered up to 200 local businesses the opportunity to buy a $550 part-sponsorship of the national racing series event. Members of the 200 Club then went into a draw for the chance to have their package upgraded to one of 12 boat sponsorships, one race-day naming rights deal or the prestigious event naming rights partnership worth more than $100,000.

The fourth round of the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships will be the feature event of the Lake Mac Big Weekend, two days jam-packed with fun and free activities around key vantage points from Eleebana to Warners Bay and on Marmong Point foreshore reserve.

Attractions over the weekend of 14-15 October will include markets, food stalls and entertainment, jet ski racing, ‘come and try’ water sports and aerobatic displays from the Matt Hall Racing flying team.

“After launching in 2016, the Lake Mac Big Weekend has quickly become one of the biggest events on our City calendar,” Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Kay Fraser, said.

“Last year, more than 30,000 people flocked to the Big Weekend, and this year we expect even more as this exciting event continues to grow.”

Dantia is developing an event app that will allow Lake Macquarie businesses to promote special offers to locals and visitors on the Big Weekend. Businesses can submit a listing at dantia.com.au/superboatoffers2017.
